Programmers out to make my life hell

janus_74One of the programmers at work and I are having a 'discussion' about the order of menu items. Apparently there are rules for the order of the menus (File, Edit, View). I'm trying to make my own life easier by suggesting to re-order the menus so that they are in order of workflow. That way when I'm teaching new people the program I can say 'just follow the menu items'.
All I want is for him to consider it, and not spout off Microsoft's way of doing things. 'cause, really, do you think they did a big user survey to decide these things.
