I just had to walk a guy through creating a shortcut on his desktop. Can you say scope of support?

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Umm, ahem. Please tell me this guy was just messing around and really wanted to get your digits so he could call you later? Because no one can be that stupid. Right?

Speaking as someone who did tech help for a year for Bell South, I can honestly say that yes, people cna be that dumb.

Tell me Tan, was the hardest part trying to convice himt hat he could indeed right-click? Heaven knows my clients always that an issue with that. I swear they were all Mac addicts. :)

Sadly, no.

It wasn't as bad as the one I had to teach how to double click. A tough thing to do over the phone.

The worst part is, I support geophysical software. Which implies some computer skill on the part of the user.

He wouldn't listen. And read me every single screen of the new short cut wizard.

After a while he said that he wouldn't keep wasting my time and he'd get back to it and I was like 'dude, it's not that hard.'

This makes me kinda sad. And I don't mean in a funny way. Hmm, then again, there are people that don't know what a kom-poot-oar is, so I guess it's to be expected.

Well, if that's the case, I'm extremely disturbed now. I still say he was trying to get your digits. Let's just allow me this illusion because I can't comprehend people being this...what's the word? Oh, I know. Uninformed. How PC of me :)

He called back today, but I was on the other line. This was the message I got:
He would like you to give him a call. He doesn't have a phone with him so he said you'll have to go through the switchboard, but he doesn't remember that number. He was pretty sure you knew what the number is.

I love my job.

Okay, I take it back. People really are that 'special', aren't they? I feel for ya. More power to you. You must be a saint to put up with this stuff. I'd be slamming my head through the nearest wall by now if I were in your position :)
